Scholarships

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY: For the second year in a row, Mt. Vernon Nazarene University, has given us seven scholarships to award to students. The school is located in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, which is 45 minutes northeast of Columbus. The scholarship is worth approximately $126,000. Total cost to attend this private, Christian college is approximately $49,000 per year. The scholarship guarantees that out-of-pocket costs would not exceed $18,500 per year for four years. This includes tuition, housing, and food. Not included are books or other non-standard fees. This is an excellent deal for a private university.

Last year, we awarded this scholarship to 6 students. If you would like to check out what the university has to offer, you can go to www.mvnu.edu and browse the website. The scholarships will be awarded to the first seven students who meet the following qualifications:

1) Students apply to the university and are accepted (a college visit is recommended)

2) Students complete the FAFSA

3) Students get a letter of recommendation from Julie Squires, BCHS School Counselor

4) Students pay their housing and academic deposits (total $250--$100 academic, $150 housing)

5) All of this is completed by the January 1, 2026 deadline

The university offers several degree programs. They are noted for having strong education, business administration, biology, engineering, social work, computer science, ministry, and nursing programs. 100% of their graduates in May 2025 passed the NCLEX nursing exam.
