Hello November...

November always nudges us to slow down and notice the good around us. At New Haven, we are especially grateful for our students who work hard every day, for families who partner with us, and for staff who give their hearts to make school a safe, joyful place to learn. As we head into this season of thankfulness, we want you to know how much we appreciate your support—whether it’s helping with homework, attending events, or simply encouraging your child. Together, we are building a community where every student is seen, valued, and growing.

BCS Attendance Procedures

An email from our District Office was sent to all parents on the 31st explaining that all Boone County Schools (Elementary, Middle, and High School) will be following the Board of Education approved Attendance policy. This has always fallen under each school's SBDM, but we all will have 1 aligned attendance policy that all levels will adhere to. With that said, it does change what we have followed at New Haven. Fortunately, the change mid-year does not cause issues with what we have had in place, the contrary, it allows for 1 more Parent note day. I have linked a copy of the email sent out below for your review.

School Choice Re-Enrollment

Believe it or not, the planning for the next school year is on the forefront. Anyone attending a Boone County school through school choice must reapply each school year. That window for 1st through 12th grade is November 15th through January 15th. Any parents of kindergarteners will have the ability to apply through June 1st. Approval is based on behavior, attendance, grades, and school capacity. Beginning November 15th you can go to the Boone County Schools website, under "For Parents", scroll down to the "School Choice/ Open Enrollment" link and follow the directions from there.

NO SHAVE NOVEMBER:
Supporting our Community

Our amazing School Resource Officer, Deputy Kevin Duncan, is once again participating in No Shave November — a special campaign benefiting the Cancer Unit at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Each year, participants grow out their beards and donate to help children and families who are bravely fighting cancer. This cause is especially close to our hearts as we rally behind one of our own NHE heroes who is fighting this battle,  and all of the courageous kids receiving care at Children’s.

Deputy Duncan is collecting donations on behalf of The New Haven Family through November 18, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the hospital. He and his wife will even contribute an additional personal donation to match a portion of what’s raised! The goal from the Florence PD is $2500, and our hope is that we can come close to that on our own!

If you’d like to join in supporting this meaningful cause, visit the link below to learn more or to give directly:

Let’s help Deputy Duncan show what it means to have a community full of heart — and a little extra beard — for kids who inspire us every day. 💛

Our school faculty is donating directly to Deputy Duncan so that he can donate collectively on our behalf. IF you would like to join us as well you can use Deputy Duncan's venmo account: @Kevin-Ducan-52 - Label it No Shave 2025 and your family name (ex: Goble No Shave 25). If you have other ways you'd like to donate or would like to ask questions you can email him at kevin.ducan@boone.kyschools.us
